Head of APAC
Leon Foong is currently the Head of APAC for Binance and is an avid believer in the ability of blockchain to bring economic freedom to the masses. He is currently working to grow the Binance ecosystem, user base and establish licensed entities across the region.
Prior to Binance, Leon was the founding CEO of SOCAR Malaysia. During his time at SOCAR, he launched a new p2p carsharing (TREVO) business under the SOCAR SEA umbrella and TREVO is now the leading p2p car-sharing platform in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Prior to venturing into the car-sharing space, Leon Foong was the General Manager of Uber Malaysia and Thailand and was responsible for introducing ride-sharing to Malaysia, bringing reliable on-demand peer to peer transportation to over more than 20 cities across Malaysia and Thailand. During his time at SOCAR and Uber, he worked closely with government stakeholders to pioneer peer to peer carsharing and e-hailing regulations.
Educated in Oxford with a first-class degree in Economics and Management, Leon is obsessed with solving problems and using technology as a big socio-economic equaliser. Prior to joining Uber Malaysia, Leon was also the co-founder of GoGet.my, an on-demand errands marketplace that creates flexible opportunities for the people of Malaysia. He is also an active angle investor in web2.0 and web3.0 projects.
